Description
Leo Tolstoy, the author of 'War and Peace' and 'Anna Karenina,' is considered one of the greatest novelists of all time. However, in his later years, he underwent a profound moral and spiritual crisis that led him to reject his noble status and wealth. He became a fervent advocate of Christian anarchism and non-violent resistance, living as a vegetarian and dressing in peasant clothing. His 1,200-page masterpiece 'War and Peace' is famous for its vast scope, containing over 500 characters and weaving together personal stories with the historical narrative of the Napoleonic Wars. Tolstoy's philosophical writings on non-violence had a deep impact on global figures such as Mahatma Gandhi and Martin Luther King Jr. He died in a train station in 1910 after fleeing his home in an attempt to live out his final days in simple, ascetic isolation.
