Description
Vincent van Gogh is often remembered for his mental health struggles, but his artistic output was staggering, especially toward the end of his life. During his final 70 days in Auvers-sur-Oise, before his death in 1890, he produced roughly one painting per day. His style, characterized by bold colors and dramatic, impulsive, and expressive brushwork, laid the foundations of modern art. Interestingly, Van Gogh only sold one painting during his lifetime: 'The Red Vineyard.' He relied almost entirely on the financial support of his brother, Theo, a successful art dealer. The letters between the two brothers provide an intimate look into Vincent's creative process and his theories on color. Today, works like 'The Starry Night' and 'Sunflowers' are among the most expensive and recognized paintings in the world, representing the emotional intensity of the Post-Impressionist movement.
