Description
The ArtScience Museum at Marina Bay Sands is a premier cultural institution that explores the intersection of art, science, culture, and technology. Designed by architect Moshe Safdie, the building’s form is often compared to a lotus flower or an open hand. It features ten 'fingers' anchored by a unique round base in the middle. The tip of each 'finger' allows natural light to filter into the galleries, while the dish-like roof functions as a massive rainwater harvester. The water is channeled through the center of the building into a 35-meter interior waterfall and then recycled for use in the museum's restrooms and lily ponds. The museum is a centerpiece of Singapore's commitment to sustainable architecture and its vision of being a 'City in a Garden.'
