Description
Africa is often perceived as being primarily in the Southern Hemisphere, but it is actually almost perfectly bisected by the Equator. This leads to some tricky comparisons with other continents. For example, the northernmost point of Africa (Tunisia) is further north than several European cities, and its southernmost point (South Africa) is nowhere near as far south as South America or Australia. In fact, Africa is the only continent that stretches from the northern temperate zone to the southern temperate zone. Because of its massive size and central location, it is the most 'centered' continent on Earth, spanning both the Prime Meridian and the Equator.
