Description
Indonesia is the world's largest archipelago state, consisting of more than 17,000 islands, of which about 6,000 are inhabited. It spans Southeast Asia and Oceania, making it a transcontinental nation. The capital is Jakarta, located on the island of Java, which is the most populous island in the world. However, due to Jakarta's rapid sinking and overcrowding, the government is currently building a new capital city called Nusantara on the island of Borneo. Indonesia is home to some of the world's most significant biodiversity, including the Komodo dragon and the orangutan. It also has the highest number of active volcanoes in the world, as it sits on the 'Pacific Ring of Fire.' The country's islands vary greatly, from the dense rainforests of Sumatra to the world-famous beaches of Bali. Indonesia is the world's fourth most populous country and has the largest Muslim-majority population.
