Description
Canada holds the record for the longest coastline of any country in the world. It stretches for 151,019 miles (243,042 kilometers). If you were to walk the entire length of Canada's coastline without stopping, it would take you more than 30 years. This massive length is due to the country's jagged edges and the thousands of islands in the Arctic Archipelago. Interestingly, there is a concept in geography called the 'Coastline Paradox,' which states that the measured length of a coastline depends on the length of the 'ruler' you use—the smaller the ruler, the more nooks and crannies you measure, and the longer the coastline becomes. Even so, by any standard measurement, Canada far exceeds second-place Norway.
