Description
Nikola Tesla was a Serbian-American inventor and engineer who fundamentally shaped the modern world through his development of alternating current (AC) electrical systems. In the famous 'War of Currents' against Thomas Edison, Tesla's AC system eventually won out because it could transmit electricity over long distances more efficiently. Tesla held over 300 patents, including the Tesla coil, early radio technology, and the induction motor. He envisioned a world of wireless global communication and free energy, though his grand Wardenclyffe Tower project failed due to a lack of funding. A brilliant but eccentric polymath, Tesla claimed to have designed a 'death ray' and spoke of communicating with other planets. Though he died penniless in a New York hotel, his work remains the backbone of our modern power grid and wireless technology, and he has become a cult icon for scientific visionary thinking.
