Description
The 1973 horror classic 'The Exorcist' is often cited as one of the most 'cursed' productions in Hollywood history. A series of bizarre and tragic events plagued the set for nearly a year. Shortly after filming began, a large part of the set for the MacNeil house burned down in a mysterious fire; notably, the only room that remained untouched by the flames was the one where the exorcism was to take place. Several people associated with the film died during or shortly after production, including actors Jack MacGowran and Vasiliki Maliaros. Additionally, actress Ellen Burstyn suffered a permanent spinal injury during a stunt gone wrong. The atmosphere was so tense that director William Friedkin eventually brought in a real priest to bless the set and the crew, fueling the movie's dark legend long before it even hit theaters.
