Description
The 1999 blockbuster 'The Matrix' introduced the 'Bullet Time' visual effect, which became one of the most imitated techniques in cinema. To achieve the look of time slowing down while the camera moves at normal speed, the production used an array of 122 still cameras placed in a circle or line around the actors. The cameras were triggered in sequence, and the resulting still images were compiled into a single fluid shot. This, combined with green-screen technology and wire-work stunts inspired by Hong Kong action cinema, redefined sci-fi action blockbusters. The film's success made it a philosophical cultural touchstone and a massive financial win for Warner Bros.
