Description
Robert Johnson is perhaps the most mysterious and influential figure in the history of the blues. Legend has it that he met the Devil at a Mississippi crossroads and traded his soul for extraordinary guitar talent. While he only recorded 29 songs before his death at age 27, his 'finger-picking' style—which made it sound like two or three guitars were playing at once—became the blueprint for electric rock. His songs, such as 'Cross Road Blues' and 'Sweet Home Chicago,' were later covered by legends like Eric Clapton and the Rolling Stones. Johnson’s life was documented in only two known photographs, adding to his mythical status. He is the first member of the '27 Club' and is considered the bedrock upon which much of modern rock music was built.
