Description
French electronic duo Daft Punk, consisting of Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo, are famous for their robotic personas. They weren't always robots; early in their career, they performed as humans, sometimes wearing masks or hiding behind screens. The transition to the robot characters occurred in September 1999. According to the duo's fictional backstory, an explosion occurred in their studio while they were working on their album 'Discovery.' When they regained consciousness, they discovered they had become robots. In reality, the move was a strategic decision to maintain their privacy and shift the focus from their faces to the music. The helmets became increasingly sophisticated over the years, featuring LED displays and cooling systems. After 28 years of anonymity and hit songs like 'One More Time' and 'Get Lucky,' the duo announced their retirement in 2021.
