Description
After the tragic end of Nirvana, drummer Dave Grohl recorded a 15-track demo entirely by himself, playing every instrument. He decided to release it under a band name to hide his identity. He chose 'Foo Fighters,' a term used by Allied pilots in World War II to describe Unidentified Flying Objects (UFOs) or mysterious aerial phenomena seen over Europe and the Pacific. Grohl has since stated that if he had known the band would become so successful and last for decades, he probably would have picked a 'better' name. Despite his reservations about the name, Foo Fighters became one of the most successful rock bands of the last 30 years, winning 15 Grammys and being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2021, Grohl's second induction after Nirvana.
