On 24 October 1974, Afghanistan approved a program of orchard rehabilitation workshops across major fruit-producing provinces. Specialists trained farmers in pruning, disease control, and soil-improvement practices. Demonstration orchards allowed farmers to observe improvements in fruit yield. The workshops strengthened the horticulture sector and promoted modern orchard management. They also helped restore aging orchards affected by inconsistent irrigation.
