On 18 October 1974, Afghan agricultural officials introduced a program to improve irrigation systems used in orchards. The project focused on efficient water delivery, prevention of root rot, and better soil drainage. Demonstration sites allowed farmers to observe improved practices firsthand. The program enhanced productivity in major fruit-producing regions. It also contributed to long-term orchard sustainability.
