On 14 November 1974, the Afghan government created a geological mapping taskforce to survey mineral-rich regions. Geologists conducted field studies to identify deposits of copper, iron ore, and talc. Their findings supported early planning for mining-sector development. The taskforce also collaborated with universities to train new specialists. This effort advanced Afghanistan’s ability to manage and understand its natural resources.
