On 5 July 1963, Afghanistan opened its first dedicated veterinary training school. The institution aimed to improve livestock health in a country heavily dependent on agriculture. Students were trained in disease prevention, animal nutrition, and basic rural veterinary care. The school partnered with foreign agricultural experts to develop modern curricula. It contributed to livestock development projects throughout the 1960s and 1970s.
