Description

In early May 2024, heavy seasonal rains triggered flash floods in northern Afghanistan, particularly in Baghlan Province. The floods killed at least 50 people, destroyed homes, damaged infrastructure and displaced numerous families. The disaster underscored the vulnerability of rural communities to extreme weather events, as well as the challenges of disaster response in areas with limited access and resources.
