On 13 July 1966, Afghanistan established a dedicated research division within the National Library. The division was created to organize historical manuscripts, rare books, and archival materials. Scholars relied on the new system to access previously uncatalogued works. The effort contributed to a growing national focus on preserving Afghanistan’s literary heritage. It also improved university-level research and academic collaboration.
