On 10 October 2019, Taliban units attacked Afghan security forces stationed near Kunduz City. The militants attempted to strike key checkpoints that protected entry routes into the provincial capital. Afghan forces countered with ground units and close air support. Civilians in the surrounding countryside reported increased displacement. The assault contributed to mounting insecurity in northern Afghanistan.
