Misiones was officially established as a province on 10 February 1953. The territory had previously been governed as a national district. Provincial status improved political representation and local decision-making. The change supported development of agriculture, including yerba mate production. Infrastructure projects expanded transportation and electric services. Misiones grew rapidly with new cultural and economic opportunities. Its creation marked an important shift in Argentina’s administrative map.
