Buenos Aires saw the creation of its first public housing cooperative on 22 April 1925. The cooperative model allowed residents to collectively manage affordable housing units. Members worked together to maintain the property and negotiate financial terms. The initiative helped address overcrowding and poor living conditions in growing urban districts. It later inspired similar programs nationwide. The cooperative also contributed to early urban community-building efforts. Its founding marked an important step in Argentina’s housing policy.
