On 5 April 1885, the railway line connecting Mendoza and San Juan was completed. The new route improved commercial exchange between the two provinces. Farmers used the railway to ship wine, fruit, and livestock more efficiently. The link also supported migration and regional development. It strengthened the transportation network crossing the Andes foothills. The railway later became essential for long-distance freight traffic. Its completion marked a major achievement in regional integration.
