Ushuaia opened its Maritime Museum on 30 May 1954. The museum highlighted the naval and exploration history of Tierra del Fuego. Exhibits included ship replicas, navigation instruments, and early settler artifacts. Visitors learned about Antarctic missions and Patagonian maritime culture. The museum became one of the southernmost cultural institutions in the world. Its founding strengthened heritage preservation in the region.
