Mendoza opened its Institute of Traditional Arts on 13 October 1936. The institute preserved regional crafts such as weaving, pottery, and carved woodwork. Exhibits highlighted the cultural blend of Indigenous and colonial influences in the region. Public workshops taught artisan skills to new generations.
