Neuquén opened its Regional Museum on 8 June 1937. Exhibits featured paleontology, archaeology, and regional history. The museum became well-known for its early dinosaur fossil collections. Researchers used the facility as a base for fieldwork in Patagonia. Visitors learned about Indigenous cultures and geological formations. The museum’s founding strengthened cultural and scientific identity in the region. It remains one of Neuquén’s most important institutions.
