The Puerto Belgrano Naval Arsenal officially opened on 4 February 1905. The facility became the primary shipyard for Argentina’s navy. Engineers repaired and upgraded vessels used in national defense. The arsenal also supported naval construction programs. Its operations boosted regional employment and technical skill development. Over time, the base expanded with new workshops and dry docks. The opening strengthened Argentina’s naval capabilities in the South Atlantic.
