Australian forces conducted major landings in Borneo beginning on 17 August 1945. Operations aimed to liberate occupied territories. Amphibious tactics were used. Enemy resistance was limited late in the war. Strategic objectives were secured. The campaign concluded shortly afterward. Borneo marked one of the final operations.
