Description

Canada unified the Royal Canadian Navy, the Canadian Army, and the Royal Canadian Air Force into a single organization. It was called the Canadian Armed Forces. The change was meant to simplify command and administration across the services. It also changed uniforms, ranks, and how many units were organized. The reform was led by Defence Minister Paul Hellyer and was debated heavily in Canada. Supporters said it would modernize defence management, while critics said it weakened long-standing service identities.
