Description

Thomas Scott was executed by Louis Riel’s provisional government at Red River. The execution became a turning point in the Red River Resistance period. It inflamed political tensions, especially in Ontario, and hardened opposition to Riel among many Protestants. The event contributed to Ottawa’s decision to send the Red River Expedition.
