Red Dress Day is observed on 5 May to honour and raise awareness about Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and Two-Spirit people. The day is closely linked to Jaime Black’s REDress Project, which used empty red dresses as a public symbol of loss and violence. Communities across Canada mark the day through ceremonies, displays, and education. The purpose is both remembrance and public awareness of ongoing violence and systemic issues.
