Description

Celebrations in Halifax and Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, escalated into disorder that became known as the VE-Day riots. Poor coordination and high tensions in the wartime port city contributed to the outbreak. Large crowds, including service members and civilians, engaged in vandalism and looting. The riots became one of Canada’s most notable home-front disturbances linked to the end of the Second World War.
