Description

On July 11, 1804, Alexander Hamilton and Aaron Burr fought a duel in Weehawken, New Jersey. Their rivalry had been intensifying due to political disputes and personal grudges. Burr’s shot struck Hamilton, inflicting a fatal wound. Hamilton died the next day in New York. The duel shocked the nation and damaged Burr’s political career. It remains one of the most infamous personal conflicts in American history.
