On February 26, 1993, terrorists detonated a truck bomb beneath the North Tower of the World Trade Center in New York City, killing six people and injuring more than 1,000. The attack was an early attempt to bring down the towers and a precursor to the 9/11 attacks. It led to significant changes in security and counter-terrorism policy in the United States.
