On 20 June 1978, the Afghan government established the Afghan Academy of Sciences to support research in linguistics, history, and natural sciences. The academy’s mission included preserving Afghan cultural identity and promoting scientific advancement. Scholars from various provinces were invited to collaborate on long-term academic projects. The academy later published journals and reports that shaped intellectual discourse. Its formation represented an effort to strengthen national research institutions during a period of political change.
