Brazil enacted Law No. 13,869, known as the Abuse of Authority Law. The law defines crimes committed by public officials who abuse their powers, including certain unlawful actions by authorities during investigations, arrests, or other official acts. It also amended several other statutes and revoked Brazil’s prior Abuse of Authority law from 1965.
