Brazil enacted Law No. 14,994, which made femicide an autonomous crime and increased penalties for femicide and related crimes against women. The law amended multiple major criminal statutes, including the Penal Code and other criminal legislation. This strengthened protections and punishment frameworks. It also introduced additional measures aimed at preventing and addressing gender-based violence.
