After days of mutiny in Guanabara Bay, the Revolt of the Lash officially ended. Led by João Cândido Felisberto (the "Black Admiral"). Sailors on the battleships Minas Geraes and São Paulo accepted an amnesty provision signed by President Hermes da Fonseca. The rebellion successfully pressured the government to abolish the use of corporal punishment (flogging) in the Brazilian Navy.
