Brazil enacted Law No. 12,546, which created Reintegra (a program to reintegrate residual federal tax costs for exporting companies). The law was designed to support Brazilian exporters by returning part of embedded tax costs in production chains. It also became widely known for establishing rules used in later years for payroll-tax substitution for certain sectors (through its later amendments and extensions).
