Brazil enacted Law No. 8,080, it is commonly called the Lei Orgânica da Saúde. This set the legal foundations for the Sistema Único de Saúde (SUS). The law defined how health actions and services should be organized nationally, including principles and responsibilities across levels of government. It remains one of the core statutes of Brazil’s public-health system and governance.
