Georges-Henri Lévesque died on 15 January 2000. He was a Dominican priest and sociologist who helped build modern social-science education in Quebec. Lévesque is often linked to major intellectual and institutional changes that shaped public life in mid-20th-century Quebec. Through teaching and leadership at Université Laval, he influenced public policy thinking and social reform movements.
