Brazil authorized the federal government to create the Companhia de Pesquisa de Recursos Minerais (CPRM), linked to the Ministry of Mines and Energy. The decree established CPRM as a company intended to stimulate the discovery and better use of Brazil’s mineral and water resources through geology and hydrology studies. It also set CPRM’s role in supporting government agencies and cooperating with private initiatives in research and surveys.
