Brazil enacted Law No. 4,118, which set out the country’s National Nuclear Energy Policy and created the National Nuclear Energy Commission (CNEN). The law defined key concepts and rules for handling nuclear minerals and materials and laid out how nuclear activities would be supervised in Brazil. It also established CNEN’s responsibilities as the central federal body to guide and oversee nuclear-related development and control.
