A popular uprising known as the Motim das Mulheres took place in Mossoró, in the province of Rio Grande do Norte. The protest was led mainly by women who opposed the enforcement of a new civil registry and census system, which many feared would lead to increased taxation, forced military service, or enslavement. The demonstrators targeted local authorities and registry offices, disrupting the implementation of the measure. The revolt forced officials to suspend census activities in the city.
