Description

This law established proportional prior notice (aviso prévio proporcional) in employment termination. The law set the prior notice at 30 days for employees with up to one year of service. It is with additional days added per year of service, up to a defined maximum. This changed a major rule in Brazilian labor practice by linking notice length to tenure. The reform affected dismissal planning, severance-related timelines, and employer–employee negotiations.
