Brazil issued Decree No. 6,961,approving the agroecological zoning for sugarcane (zoneamento agroecológico da cana-de-açúcar). The decree set federal policy guidance on where sugarcane expansion should occur based on environmental and land-use criteria. It also directed the National Monetary Council to establish financing rules aligned with the zoning.
